Project Summary 

The Trends in education include the benefits of distance education and e-learning, which can be used to fill gaps, build skills, streamline time to receive an undergraduate degree, and create alternative pathways to higher education. Online learning is no longer an anomaly in American higher education. 

Covid-19 death a serious blow to the enrollment and finances of many colleges and universities.  The higher education system that will emerge from the pandemic must be fundamental different (Crow,Selingo,2021).  Colleges will need to be flexible in how and what education alternatives they deliver.  The quick pivot to remote learning over the last 19 months proved that colleges can and should be flexible. The same holds true for educational consultants and school counselors when with with pre and post-high school students.

The project objective is to inform educational consultants and counselors the importance of including distance education into the planning process when working with students during academic planning process and to encourage lifelong learning.
