Bridging pathways to Education

Glenda Augustine is the Founder and Principal of Augustine Educational Services, LLC, providing personalized and professional educational services and admissions strategy consulting to families of middle and high school students.  Since 2008, Glenda has provided a range of services to help families find the right educational “fit” for their children in primary and high school, and in the college admissions process.  She specializes in conducting secondary  school admissions testing, assessing and counseling in executive functioning for students, researches schools to assist families in assessing the best educational facilities to meet the needs of students, and employs advanced educational technologies to maximize the academic capabilities of her clients, such as Distance Learning alternatives.

Glenda has deep ties to the schools in the DMV area.  She is a former member of the Board of Trustees of Norwood School in Bethesda (MD) and the Newport School (closed). She was active in the Norwood Parent Association, and was a true visionary.  She proposed the formation of the Norwood Diversity Committee, and served as its first Chairperson.  In this role, she founded Norwood’s first Multicultural Festival in 2007 an event that has become an annual fixture for the last fourteen years.  She counseled her four children through the college process to Harvard, Wesleyan, Pomona College, and Johns Hopkins University.

Glenda is the first in her family to attend college. Her extraordinary journey to college and navigating the complex admissions and financial aid process fuels her passion for guiding students through as simply and painlessly as possible.  Glenda’s empathetic nature helps her to quickly bond with students through her creative, strengths-based approach to academic advising and college coaching. She enjoys empowering students to celebrate and share their successes, and she incorporates positive encouragement -- along with accountability -- in each student’s secondary-school or college selection process.  She believes that the educational journey presents an opportunity to reflect and consider the many possibilities of major, careers, and lives as possible by empowering students to recognize and own their options.

Glenda obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering from University of Wisconsin – Madison.  She is certified in Executive Functioning from Landmark College, and certified in College Consulting from the Independent Educational Consultant Association. She is a member of the Board of Directors of Cool & Dope, a 501c nonprofit organization with the mission of ending bullying.  Glenda is currently studying for a Master’s in Distance Education.  She is the Founder of the new “2 Black Moms & A Mic” podcast, which can be found at Home | 2blackmomsandamic.  When not advising students and their families, Glenda can be found on frequent Zoom calls with her four adult children, traveling when she can, and nurturing her many plants and flowers in her backyard garden oasis.
